TITANATE NANOSTRUCTURE FOR REGENERATING AND ENGINEERING TISSUE

Abstract

The invention relates to a titanate nanoribbon nanostructure. The titanate nanoribbons have bioactive agents grafted onto the surface thereof via a bifunctional binding molecule, preferably a heterobifunctional polymer. The bifunctional polymer has, on one end, a functional grouping enabling said bifunctional polymer to be covalently grafted onto the surface of the titanate nanoribbons and moreover has, on the other end, a functional grouping enabling said bifunctional polymer to be covalently grafted to the bioactive agents. The titanate nanoribbon nanostructures, on which adhesive proteins (specifically, the proteins from the extracellular matrix, such as collagens, fibronectin, laminin, elastin, or any protein or peptide derived from the latter, for example the RGD peptide) are grafted, are particularly important for assisting the healing and regeneration processes of damaged tissues.
