TISSUE ENGINEERING FOR THE FORMATION OF RADICULAR CEMENTUM, BONE, DENTINE, CARTILAGE AND PERIODONTAL LIGAMENT BY USING HUMAN CEMENTUM PROTEIN 1 (CEMP-1).

Abstract

The present invention is based on a pharmaceutical formulation for inducing the formation of bone, cementum, dentine, and cartilage and periodontal ligament, which includes a biodegradable polymer (polylactic co-glycolic acid) (PLGA), with a three-dimensional porous structure having pores of from about 100 Ám to about 200 Ám in diameter, as well as a recombinant human cementum protein 1 (CEMP-1) or a plasmid containing the gene information of CEMP-1 and the induction of cells from the periodontal ligament cultured in vitro so as to induce them to form cartilage, bone, dentine and cementum either in vitro and in vivo. Key words: PLGA, cementum protein 1 (CEMP-1), osteogenesis, periodontal regeneration, cartilage, cementum, gene therapy.
