THREE-DIMENSIONAL MACROPOROUS SUBSTRATES FOR TISSUE ENGINEERING

THREE-DIMENSIONAL MACROPOROUS SUBSTRATES FOR TISSUE ENGINEERING

Abstract

The present invention describes a three-dimensional substrate that comprises a polymeric matrix and particles, of nanoscale or micron size, of an inorganic material that are dispersed and homogeneously distributed in said matrix. The substrate comprises a continuous network of interconnected macropores and micropores, and may further comprise a continuous biomimetic hydroxyapatite phase. The substrate is useful in tissue engineering applications. The present invention likewise describes a method for producing the substrate and the use thereof.
