23 Jul PRODUCTION OF BIOCOMPATIBLE COMPOSITE HYDROXYAPATITE/CHITOSAN/GRAPHENE COATINGS ON TITANIUM
Abstract
Biocompatible composite hydroxyapatite/chitosan/graphene coatings on titanium were obtained using the method consisting of chemical surface pretreatment and electrophoretic deposition of hydroxyapatite/chitosan/graphene coatings from ethanol suspensions at constant applied voltage. Electrophoretic deposition is effective method of uniform coating formation, as well as the control of thickness and morphology of the final product. The incorporation of chitosan and small quantity od graphene should reduce the coating brittleness and enhance the mechanical properties. Due to their bioactivity and non-cytotoxicity, hydroxyapatite/chitosan/graphene coatings on titanium can be used as dental and orthopedic implants for hard tissues in all applications in which these implants are utilized (e.g. stomatology, medicine, veterinary, tissue engineering).
