Microgel comprising biodegradable polymer and method for preparing the same

Abstract

The present invention provides a biodegradable microgel (PEGSDA microgel) including a polyethylene glycol-sebacic acid-diacrylate (PEGSDA) polymer, and a method for preparing the same. Since the microgel includes the polyethylene glycol-sebacic acid-diacrylate polymer which has high mechanical strength by adding a hydrophobic molecule, i.e. sebacic acid to the typically known non-degradable polyethylene glycol diacrylate, and controls the drug release rate by introducing an ester group to the polymer backbone, thereby showing the biodegradable properties in the body while minimizing the drug use so that biodegradability and high drug impregnation characteristic of 60% or more are exhibited. Therefore, the microgel may be effectively used as an in vivo drug delivery system or an artificial extracellular matrix in tissue engineering.
