METHOD OF BIODEGRADABLE ALGINIC ACID NANOFIBER USING GAMMA-IRRADIATION

Abstract

The present invention relates to a method of preparing a biodegradable alginic acid nanofiber using gamma-irradiation, and a use of such nanofibers, wherein the biodegradable alginic acid nanofiber which is radiated by gamma rays, cross-linked with calcium chloride, and without PEO, has an increased biodegradablility compared to a control group which is not radiated by gamma rays. When RGD peptide, which is a cell-adhesion peptide, is applied to the biodegradable alginic acid nanofiber, cell proliferation and cell adhesion are increased. Therefore, a biodegradable alginic acid nanofiber prepared through the method of the present invention can be advantageously used for scaffolds in tissue engineering.
