METHOD FOR REDUCING POLLEN FERTILITY BY USING GENE OF TAPETAL LAYER SPECIFIC ZINC FINGER TRANSCRIPTION FACTOR

METHOD FOR REDUCING POLLEN FERTILITY BY USING GENE OF TAPETAL LAYER SPECIFIC ZINC FINGER TRANSCRIPTION FACTOR

Abstract

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a gene engineering method useful for transforming a plant represented by male sterile by utilizing a specific gene in the tissue of an anther. ;SOLUTION: This method for producing the transformed plant is provided ty utilizing a plant expression cassette containing a promoter containing any one of the (a) a DNA having a specific base sequence (e.g. base sequence encoding ZPT3-2 derived from petunia) or (b) a DNA having a part of the sequence of (a) and exhibiting the the specific promoter activity of the tapetal layer of an anther, and a xenogenic gene bound to the promoter operably. According to the method, the plant including the promoter, and the promoter and the xenogenic gene imparts male sterility to the plant. ;COPYRIGHT: (C)2006,JPO&NCIPI
