METHOD FOR REDUCING POLLEN FERTILITY BY USING GENE OF TAPETAL LAYER SPECIFIC ZINC FINGER TRANSCRIPTION FACTOR

METHOD FOR REDUCING POLLEN FERTILITY BY USING GENE OF TAPETAL LAYER SPECIFIC ZINC FINGER TRANSCRIPTION FACTOR

Abstract

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a gene engineering method useful for transforming a plant represented by male sterile by utilizing a specific gene in the tissue of an anther. SOLUTION: This method for producing the transformed plant is provided by utilizing a plant expression cassette containing a promoter containing any one of (a) a DNA having a first to 1991st of a base sequence expressed by the sequence number 3 in the specification or (b) a DNA having a part of the sequence of the (a) and exhibiting the specific promoter activity of the tapetal layer of the anther, and a xenogenic gene bonded with the promoter operably. Further, the plant promoter, and the plant expression cassette containing the promoter and the xenogenic gene, and useful for imparting the male sterile property to the plant are provided.
