METHOD FOR REDUCING POLLEN FERTILITY BY USING GENE OF POLLEN SPECIFIC ZINC FINGER TRANSCRIPTION FACTOR

Abstract

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a gene engineering method useful for transforming a plant represented by male sterile by utilizing a specific gene in a pollen. SOLUTION: This method for producing the transformed plant is provided by utilizing a plant expression cassette containing a promoter containing any one of (a’) a DNA having a first to 2624th of a base sequence expressed by the sequence number 7 in the specification, (a”) a DNA having a first to 3631st of a base sequence expressed by the sequence number 8 in the specification, or having a part of the sequence of the (a’) or (a”) and exhibiting the specific promoter activity of a microspore and optionally a dehiscent tissue of the anther, and a xenogenic gene bonded with the promoter operably. Further, the promoter and the plant expression cassette containing the promoter and xenogenic gene and useful for imparting the male sterile property to the plant are provided.
