Abstract

The present invention relates to a method of preparing a bullet type silica colloid, which comprises: a first step of adding polyvinyl pyrrolidone to alcohol and dissolving polyvinyl pyrrolidone in alcohol; a second step of adding anhydrous alcohol, ultrapure water and a salt to the dissolved solution to obtain an emulsion, and adding ammonia to the emulsion; a third step of adding tetraethyl orthosilicate (TEOS) to the ammonia-added emulsion to obtain bullet type silica particles by proceeding a reaction while stirring the TEOS-added to the ammonia-added emulsion; and a fourth step of separating a reaction solution and the silica particles through centrifugal separation, and obtaining a bullet type silica particle-concentrated suspension by suspending the silica particles. The bullet type silica according to the present invention is promising as a drug carrier for cancer treatment since the bullet type silica not only can be delivered to cancer tissues in a state that the bullet type silica is coated with drug, but also can deliver proteins and genes for treatment. The bullet type silica can improve strength of porous ceramics as a porous scaffold as the bullet type silica is applied to a bone tissue engineering field.
