23 Jul METHOD FOR CANAL SEEPAGE LOSSES DETERMINATION
Abstract
FIELD: engineering work in connection with control or use of streams, particularly to determine water seepage from irrigation canals of irrigation and drainage system in lined beds. ^ SUBSTANCE: method involves forming grooves extending through total canal lining thickness and made along empty canal perimeter in isolated section; lying loose webs of butyl rubber and capron gummed tissue in prepared grooves to block canal in said isolated section; filling the grooves with cement mortar; lowering mounting cables through upper web parts in formed anchoring orifices; tightening the cables to create flexible water-tight partitions between watering periods when canal is filled with water; using anchoring supports installed on canal banks for mounting cable fixation in tightened positions; installing measuring staffs and apparatus, which measures water evaporation from water surface; filling the canal section with water and providing thorough canal section wetting for a long period of time; measuring leaked and evaporated water volumes in stable filtration regime and determining specific seepage discharge from canal section, seepage intensity and lining penetration coefficient. ^ EFFECT: decreased measuring time, increased accuracy, reduced labor inputs and costs. ^ 2 cl, 3 dwg, 4 tbl, 2 ex
