Abstract
An agent stimulates differentiation and/or re-differentiation and inhibits de-differentiation of chondrocytes containing inhibitors of extracellular signal regulated protein kinase (ERK) or its upstream signaling molecule MAP kinase kinase (MEK) activity. A screening method for the agent searches ERK or MEK activity inhibitors and a preparation method uses the agent. Mass production of chondrocytes is enabled, which is essential for the recovery of damaged cartilage tissue by cell therapy and tissue engineering. Effective screening of the agent is possible.
