Abstract

The invention belongs to the technical field of genetic engineering, and provides CDS (coding sequences) and protein sequences of a maize waterlogging-tolerant gene ZmWST1 (Zea mays waterlogging and submergence tolerance) and application of the maize waterlogging-tolerant gene ZmWST1 to maize waterlogging tolerance genetic improvement. The maize waterlogging-tolerant gene ZmWST1 is a nucleotide sequence shown as SEQ ID NO:1 or a nucleotide sequence with the waterlogging-tolerant ability. One or a plurality of pieces of nucleotide is added or substituted or inserted or deleted in the nucleotidesequence shown as the SEQ ID NO:1 to produce the nucleotide sequence with the waterlogging-tolerant ability. The CDS and protein sequences of the maize waterlogging-tolerant gene ZmWST1 and the application have the advantages that the maize waterlogging-tolerant gene ZmWST1 can be constructed in transformation vectors and then can be transformed into maize receptor cells by the aid of gene gun methods, and transgenic plants can be obtained by the aid of technical means such as tissue culture; the waterlogging-tolerant ability of ZmWST1 transgenic maize can be greatly improved under waterlogging conditions, and accordingly the high and stable yield of maize can be guaranteed.
