HUMAN MONOCLONAL ANTIBODY AGAINST TGF-beta II TYPE RECEPTOR AND MEDICINAL USE THEREOF

Abstract

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide human monoclonal antibodies which bind to human TGF-β II type receptor for inhibiting the signal transduction of human TGH-β into cells and preventing and treating various diseases in various organs induced by action of human TGF-β, e.g. tissue fibrosis, diseases accompanying tissue fibrosis (e.g. nephrosclerosis, pulmonary fibrosis or hepatocirrhosis), articular rheumatism, vascular restenosis and/or skin keloid and medicinal composition thereof. SOLUTION: Various human monoclonal antibodies which bind to human TGF-beta II receptor and thus inhibit the signal transduction of human TGF-beta into cells are obtained by immunizing human antibody-producing transgenic mice constructed by using genetic engineering techniques with the human TGF- beta II receptor. Further, it is found out that these human monoclonal antibodies are efficacious in preventing and treating various diseases induced by human TGF-β in various organs (for example, tissue fibrosis).
