23 Jul FIBROIN-BASED BIOCOMPOSITES FROM NATURAL SILK AND MAGNETIC NANOPARTICLES, WITH APPLICATIONS IN OSSEOUS TISSUE ENGINEERING, AND PROCESS FOR PREPARING THE SAME
Abstract
The invention relates to a polymeric biocomposite meant to be applied in osseous tissue engineering and to a process for preparing the same. According to the invention, the biocomposite consists of 10…30% natural silk fibroin, 90…50% cross-linking agent of poly(2-hydroxyethyl methacrylate)-type and 1% magnetite, the percentage being expressed by volume. According to the invention, the process consists in dispersing magnetite nanoparticles in fibroin by an ultrasound treatment for 1 h, followed by the addition of a solution of monomer and cross-linking agent, resulting in a mixture which is shaped in moulds at a temperature of 60°C, at atmospheric pressure, for 4 days.
