Abstract

The invention discloses eggplant GDP-D-mannose pyrophosphorylase (SmGMP) protein and encoding genes thereof. The protein comprises (a) protein formed by amino acid sequences as indicated by SEQ ID NO.2 or (b) protein derived from (a), wherein one or several amino acids of the amino acid sequences in (a) are replaced, missing or added, and the protein has the activity of eggplant GDP-D-mannose pyrophosphorylase; the encoding genes have basic group sequences indicted by SEQ ID NO.1; the genes are all expressed in roots, stems, leaves, flowers, pericarp and pulp, and the expression level in the leaves and the expression level in the flowers are remarkably higher than that in any other tissue. Under the low temperature stress, the expression level of the genes reaches the maximum in 48 hours and is 3.93 times the expression level under an untreated condition. By means of the eggplant GDP-D-mannose pyrophosphorylase (SmGMP) protein and the encoding genes thereof, the theoretical bases for improving the plant quality by utilizing the genetic engineering technology and obtaining medicine or food which is high in resistance to oxidation in future are provided, and great application value is achieved.
