23 Jul COLLAGEN-BINDING HYBRID POLYPEPTIDE
Abstract
A collagen-binding hybrid polypeptide wherein the capability of binding to collagen is imparted to a functional polypeptide is provided. This hybrid polypeptide is composed of a collagen-binding domain comprising the amino acid sequence ranging from Ala<260> to Arg<484> of human fibronectin and a polyfunctional polypeptide attached thereto by a genetic engineering technique. The collagen-binding hybrid polypeptide is useful in a drug delivery system (DSD) for the functional polypeptide. Moreover, this polypeptide can be formulated into a complex together with collagen. The functionally modified collagen matrix thus obtained is useful as a new biomaterial for tissue regeneration.
