Abstract
This invention relates to an apparatus and method for manufacturing scaffold for tissue engineering, particularly to an apparatus using fusion deposition modeling (FDM) device to manufacture scaffold for tissue engineering. The apparatus of this invention includes: a control unit, a movable nozzle, a material storage device, a material transporting device, a support platform and a mechanical device. In using the device to manufacture a scaffold, the materials for forming the scaffold are placed in the material storage device and liquidifying the materials. The material transporting device then transports the materials to the nozzle. The nozzle is driven by the mechanical device to move along a path designated by control parameters. The materials are then extruded to the support platform for solidification, and then stacked layers by layers to obtain the required scaffold.
