23 Jul A process for preparing the scaffold and tissue engineered cartilage made from the scaffold
Abstract
PURPOSE: A method for preparing cartilage scaffold for cartilage tissue engineering is provided, which prevents transformation of newborn cartilage and diversifies physical properties of the newborn cartilage tissue. Therefore, it could produce the cartilage tissue having desired form and various characteristics. And an artificial cartilage prepared by using the cartilage scaffold is also provided. CONSTITUTION: The method for preparing cartilage scaffold comprises steps of: (i) preparing internal scaffold having a certain shape from non-degradable or very slow degrading bio-material; and (ii) coating or binding the internal scaffold with biodegradable polymer material to obtain complex material scaffold. The tissue engineering artificial cartilage is formed by using the complex material scaffold.
