23 Jul METHOD FOR REDUCING POLLEN FERTILITY USING GENE OF POLLEN-SPECIFIC ZINC FINGER TRANSCRIPTION FACTOR
Abstract
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a genetic engineering technique utilizing a gene useful for modifying plant characters represented by male sterility and specific for pollen and a method for creating a plant having the modified characters. ;SOLUTION: The method is to create the plant having the modified characters. The method utilizes a plant expression cassette comprising a promoter containing any of (a’) a DNA having a sequence ranging from the 1st to the 2,624th positions of a base sequence represented by sequence number 7 (refer to the specification), (a’) a DNA having a sequence ranging from the 1st to the 3,631st positions of the base sequence represented by sequence number 8 (refer to the specification) or a DNA having a part of the sequence of (a’) or (a’) and exhibiting a promoter activity specific for a microspore and optionally a cleavage tissue of an anther and a heterogene operably connected to the promoter.
