Abstract
The present invention refers to a biomaterial, particularly to a copolymer obtained by radiation induced graft copolymerization of the butyl methacrylate in the PHB, using the irradiation method. The copolymer is designed with the purpose of being used in the biomedical engineering field, specifically in the microencapsulation of drugs used in tissue screening techniques for their sustained release in the human body. The copolymer by grafting P(HB-g-BUMA) comprises: (1) a base polymer (PHB) and (2) the monomer grafted onto the base polymer (BUMA). This latter element is transformed into a polymer (PBUMA).
