23 Jul Application of DsRED2 reporter gene to genetic improvement of cotton
Abstract
The invention specifically relates to application of the DsRED2 reporter gene to genetic improvement of cotton, belonging to the technical field of plant genetic engineering. The DsRED2 gene can be used as a reporter gene for screening of transgenic materials; and since red fluorescent protein has strong visibility, the transgenic materials can be directly screened according to the observation with naked eyes. In microscopic observation, the DsRED2 reporter gene can avoid interference by the autofluorescence of the tissue and organs of cotton and the autofluorescence of chlorophyll. The DsRED2reporter gene can be stably expressed in different genetic backgrounds. The DsRED2 gene can also be applied to the identification of cotton hybrids. When a DsRED2 transgenic cotton strain material isused as the male parent and other cotton varieties are used as the female parent for production of hybrids, red seeds harvested on maternal plants are hybrid seeds. Hybrids can be quickly identifiedby using the DsRED2 reporter gene.
