Abstract
A process for preparing 2-ethoxycarbonyl-2-methyl-1,3-propanediol features the esterifying reaction of 2,2-dihydroxymethyl propanoic acid on alcohol under acidic condition. The product can be used asthe raw material to synthesize biodegradable/bioabsorbable polycarbonate used in release-controlled medicine, tissue engineering and genetic therapy, and can also be used for synthesizing polyester compounds.
